Draft Pick Value Chart

Before NFL general managers consider trading draft picks, they more often than not consult this value chart. The chart assigns each pick in the draft a point value, giving GMs an easy reference to compare the relative value of draft picks in different rounds.

A look at last 10 years of NFL draft

With the NFL combine coming up this weekend, it is officially draft season. I recently found an interesting study done by one of my favorite sources. I have posted the study below. Check it out.

Image of the Week

A photo from Sunday nights game between Canada and the US. As you can see, hockey's golden boy, Sidney Crosby is being taken down, just as his team was taken down by the US 5-3. This was quite an upset, considering the game was played in Canada.

Tiger Woods - "I cheated"

The big story this weekend was about Tiger Woods holding a press conference to address the issue of him cheating on his wife and his plans for the future. I can't be the only person that is tired of this story. The media just takes stories and repeatedly pounds them in your skull until you begin to really care about stuff that you shouldn't. For this story, I get it. Tiger Woods has been cheating on his wife with several women for years. Yes, the women he cheated with aren't as attractive as one might have expected but whatever. Yes, the black community is somewhat saddened to find out that Tiger Woods is only interested in Caucasian women...Eh, get over it. Yes, the man everyone thought was perfect for some reason has proven that he is just like everyone else. Is that really his fault though? Did he ask for the media to build him into a god-like figure? Possibly, but I've never heard him say that. This is proof that we are all human. Also, how many times do we have to be reminded that people cheat. Everyday people cheat, and so do athletes, politicians, doctors, fireman and whatever else you can think of. Not everyone cheats of course, that would be horrible, but many do. At this point if you think I find cheating ok, you're wrong. Cheating is wrong, there is no way around it. If your married and you cheat, I think it is even worse. With all that being said, when people get exposed for cheating we shouldn't be surprised.

I find it interesting that we as a society are so quick to build individuals up but then love to bring them down. Tiger was wrong and in a sense he gets what he deserves. I still wish him the best. I have repeatedly heard the saying that we (USA) are a forgiving society. I would like to agree to a certain extent. I believe it all depends on who you are and what you have done or what you can do in the future. In Tigers case, I think he will be fine. We will eventually forgive but not forget. He still will provide of with a reason to pay attention to golf and I honestly believe he will patch things up with his wife. Kobe Bryant cheated, Bill Clinton cheated and they are both still loved and remain married to their wives. Interesting how that works huh?

Anyway, on to Tiger's press conference. I thought the press conference was interesting. In my opinion he said all the right things. He apologized to everyone he could think of, he acknowledged that what he did was wrong and also that he was not above the rules. Perfect! What I found most interesting was that addressed the false accusations made about him and his family. In a polite way, he told the media to back the hell away from his wife and children. I thought it was awesome. For a few split seconds you could see the fire that drives him on the golf course come out as he addressed how displeased he was with the media. From an audio standpoint I loved this press conference. From a visual standpoint Tiger left me confused. Visually it was hard to take what he was saying seriously. I'm not saying that his speech wasn't from the heart because it very well may have been but something was awkward about his presentation. The way he looked into the camera it was strange. To me it looked like he was really trying to make all the viewers believe what he was saying. If that is what he was trying to do, I think he failed. If anything he just made people question if this was all staged and rehearsed. I'm just hoping he is not the best public speaker and he meant the things he said.

Towards the end he kind of left us hanging by not really saying when he planned to return. But what else could we have expected? Now when he does announce when he is returning the media can make a big deal about it for a couple of days. Overall, I was pleased with the press conference.

I have no idea when Tiger will be back, but I assume that when he does come back he will return to greatness. I also think he will have a chip on his shoulder and will have a little something for all the golfers who took the opportunity to publicly bash him. Only time will tell.

Until next time...

I'm Back

First off id like to apologize for no posts in a while. I had a few computer issues but I'm back now. Wow, there is a lot to cover. Before I get into the NBA trade deadline, or Tiger Woods talking to the media, or my lack of interest in winter Olympics, I'd like to talk about the NBA All-Star weekend.

I know what your thinking, I'm going to bash the dunk contest. Well, your right just not yet. Lets start with the Rookie All-Star game. One word, boring! However, I was somewhat pleasantly surprised that the rookies won. I thought for sure they would get blown out, considering they were billed as the worst class in years. Well surprise surprise maybe they aren't as bad as projected. Obviously, it was just an All-Star game and Derrick Rose didn't play, but I think the rookies may deserve an apology. Anyway, I don't want to talk too much about this JV game, but I would like to congratulate Tyreke Evans, my preseason pick for rookie of the year, on his MVP award and DeJuan Blair for controlling the paint with 22 points and 23 rebounds.

Moving on....

The game of horse. When I originally heard Kevin Durant would be defending his Horse title against Rajon Rondo and Omri Casspi, I thought Durant would win in about 10-12 min max. Well, I couldn't have been further off. The event actually went over its half hour time limit and it was painfully boring. Finally, after about 45 minutes and a overtime-like shootout, Durant successfully defended his title. There was one bright side to the event. Rajon Rondo showed the world that he can actually shoot. In fact, he can shoot from anywhere on the floor. I know if you didn't watch the event you don't believe me, but trust me he can actually shoot. I guess he just has an issue when there is defense. Oh well, by the end of the night I prayed to the basketball gods that they remove this event next year.

Moving on...

The real All-Star game...If you watched, you know what I'm going to say. It was good. Dwayne Wade and Lebron left us with many highlights and Carmelo Anthony carried the West proving why he is arguably the best pure scorer in the NBA. Chris Bosh impressed us with his all around game and Dirk played well in front of the home crowd. The players gave us a game worth watching and the East took it home with a two point victory. The biggest story of the night was the venue, Jerry Jones' new baby. The stadium successfully packed in 109,000 fans and left no one disappointed. Job well done!

Moving on...

The dunk contest... I don't even like talking about this anymore. I tried my best to erase it from my memory. So I'm going to keep it short. To sum it up, it just seemed like something was missing. Other than Nate Robinson, it just didn't seem like any of the other contestants wanted to win or cared that anyone who appreciates basketball was watching. It was awful. The dunks were very boring and when it was over I was waiting for David Stern to come out announce that was just a silly prank and they were going to start the real dunk contest next. Year after year I have become accustomed to hearing Kenny Smith get so excited over certain dunks, that he came close to ejaculation. I'm afraid, not this year. Actually at the end Kenny said, "This has got to change for next year." I don't want to say all negative things about the contest, so I will give Nate Robinson credit for one of his dunks and DeMar DeRozen credit for one of his dunks. As for Gerald Wallace (who I'm a big fan of) and Shannon Brown (the favorite to win the contest) why did you even show up? I would usually post a link for an event like this but what is the point? Is it even worth it?

So, we all know this year sucked, what can they do to make it better next year? I have the solution. Get better dunkers!!! That wasn't so hard. When I say better dunkers, no I'm not referring to Lebron James. I'd love to see Lebron compete in it but I'm afraid that will never happen. That's fine it he does not want to compete because guess what? There are more people in the NBA that can dunk. First thing you do is expand the number of participants. Four is too small. I say you go 8. Now who should participate??? Here is your answer, Josh Smith, Dwight Howard, Rudy Gay, Terrence Williams, J.R. Smith, Andre Iguodala, Gerald Green, and James White (my favorite to win it all). All of these guys have been in the dunk contest before except James White and Terrence Williams but they are all high fliers and creative. That is the key, being creative. Something this years group clearly lacked.

Till next time...

During his MMA debut, former NFL star and super athlete Herschel Walker showed his opponent that even at the age of 47, he still means business.
